Best Mobile Network - RootMetrics

The MEO Mobile Network was recognized for its reliability based on data from Ookla® RootMetrics® for the first half of 2025. These awards are the result of independent tests conducted under real-world conditions, which evaluate factors such as connection stability, consistent performance, and service quality over time and across the country.

Best Mobile Network Coverage - Ookla®

According to Speedtest Intelligence® data for the first and second quarter of 2024, MEO is the national operator with the best mobile network coverage in Portugal. MEO won the award for Best Mobile Coverage with a score of 77.19%, according to the Coverage Score™ - coverage metrics that describe the actual experience of using this network and the spatial extent of the verified coverage. The study, which compared the performance of the three main national operators, included more than 280,000 devices analyzed.

Best 5G Experience – nPerf

In the nPerf 2024 results, MEO stands out as the leading 5G operator, with superior performance in download and upload speeds, achieving the best results on the market (377.52 Mbps download and 47.85 Mbps upload). 5G video streaming, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted transmission. 5G latency, sharing the position of lowest latency for a more agile experience. MEO is also the only operator to simultaneously lead fixed and mobile Internet services.

Best Mobile Internet - DECO PROteste

In the first half of 2025, DECO PROteste distinguished MEO as the operator with the best mobile internet. This distinction is the result of the average results (download and upload speed, web browsing test and streaming) measured by 46,000 users of the various operators, supported by the different generations of mobile network technology, including, for the first time, 5G technology.

Largest Fibre network in Portugal

Both awards, presented by renowned organizations, are based on ongoing investment in the expansion and modernization of the Fibre network, which, with 6.4 million households, makes MEO the operator with the largest and most technologically advanced Fibre network in the country, and on the expansion of the Mobile Network’s coverage, which already provides 5G coverage to 95.8% of the population and 4G coverage to 99.96%.

Better quality of service

In 2025, MEO was once again recognized as the telecommunications operator with the fewest complaints in Portugal, having held this distinction in the domestic market for more than six consecutive years, according to ANACOM: "Vodafone accounted for 33% of complaints in the sector, remaining the operator with the most complaints in 2025, with 7.67 complaints per thousand customers. MEO was the provider with the lowest number of complaints in the sector (3.98 complaints per thousand customers). NOS recorded 6.15 complaints per thousand customers NOWO recordedNOWO .NOWO complaints per thousand customers."

Superbrands 2025

MEO was once again distinguished as a Superbrand in 2025, achieving its 9th distinction in Portugal. This recognition is the result of a consumer study carried out at the beginning of the year, the results of which were disclosed individually to the brands identified between March and September. The official announcement of the Superbrands 2025 will take place at the Superbrands Gala on October 28. Over the years, MEO has consolidated its position as a reference brand, reflecting the trust and preference of Portuguese consumers.

Best Shop and Online Store in Portugal 2025

Consumers chose MEO Stores as the "Best Store in Portugal" and the Online Store as the "Best Online Store", both in the "Telecommunications" category. Criteria were analised such as: selection, usefulness and provision of services, knowledge and provision of information, ease of purchase, price, appearance and the extent to which they would recommend the store to their family and friends.

MEO was chosen by the majority of Portuguese

The largest network in Portugal: 6.3 million homes and businesses with the best Fibre, coverage in 96% of the country with 5G and the fastest Fibre on the market.

Reputation Award 2024

MEO is the telecommunications brand with the best reputation in Portugal for the 2nd consecutive year, as a result of its excellence both inside and outside the home. The "Brand Reputation" study by consultancy firm OnStrategy audited more than 2,000 brands from 70 sectors of activity throughout the year and which were previously identified spontaneously by more than 50,000 citizens.

Recommended Brand 2024

MEO Energia and SAPO were awarded the title of "Marca Recomendada" (recommended brand) of the year 2024 by Portuguese customers for having the best Satisfaction Index performance. Title awarded by Portal da Queixa.

Best mobile network in Lisbon

MEO has been officially recognized by umlaut as the national operator with the best network in Lisbon, according to the 2024 "Audit Report, Portugal Lisboa". The assessment covered the experience of using voice and mobile data services from all networks (2G/4G/5G) in the city's three main operators. This result is even more valuable given the city's urban density and orography.
