5G technology is the evolution of the mobile network to the 5th generation.

5G allows for higher speeds, shorter response times (latency) and a more robust network, capable of delivering quality Internet and Voice, even in areas and situations with more access, providing a better user experience with several devices connected simultaneously, wherever we are.

How fast will I surf on 5G?

All MEO tariffs are 5G. 

Pay Monthly plans have maximum speed as a basic feature (excluding 10Mbps tariffs and the Social Internet Tariff). 

Pay as You Go Plans with a base plafond greater than or equal to 10GB browse at maximum speed. The rest of the Pay as You Go Plans surf at speeds of up to 40Mbps. For more information on internet access speeds, please check the conditions of use.

What do I need to connect to 5G+?

Your plan is plan set up for 5G+. All you need is a compatible smartphone, a SIM card, and to be in an area with 5G+ coverage.

What is 5G+ network slicing?

5G+ network slicing allows the network to be “divided” into dedicated virtual segments, ensuring higher priority and better performance when needed most. It’s like having an exclusive space on the network, even during peak usage times or in high-traffic areas.

Currently, residents throughout Portugal—including the autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores—can already access MEO’s fifth-generation mobile network. In the coming months, coverage will continue to expand gradually to more areas of the country. All rate plans are compatible with 5G.
