Frequently asked questions about the IoT plan

IoT, the Internet of Things, is a network of connected intelligent objects and devices ("things") equipped with sensors and other technologies that enable them to receive and transmit data to and from other things and systems.
With IoT you can have real-time information on objects (e.g. suitcases), people and animals.

The SIM or eSIM card with the IoT plan is only intended for use in IoT devices that are always connected and require a low data allowance.

This plan cannot be used on mobile phones, hotspots, tablets, computers and similar equipment.

Some examples of smart devices where the card with this plan can be used are: GPS locators, alarms, surveillance cameras, lighting, solar panels and smartwatches.

Sim, you can use the IoT plan in Portugal and throughout the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom.

Sim, you can have a card with the IoT plan on your smartwatch.
However, if you want to have the same mobile phone number on your smartphone as on your smartwatch, get to know the OneNumber.

The prices mentioned include VAT at the legal rate of 23%.

The monthly fee shown includes a discount of €1 per month for subscriptions to the electronic invoice for as long as it remains active.

Voice calls are charged per minute, and internet usage is billed in blocks of 10KB.

Includes calls to national numbers beginning with 2, 3 and 9 in national territory and roaming communications to/from European Economic Area (EEA) countries and the United Kingdom which will be deducted from your All National Networks usage allowance. Communications extra monthly fee: MMS, calls to numbers 760, 808, 707, support to customers, international and roaming (not included in the usage allowances), will be charged on the monthly invoice. For greater security, there is a pre-defined communications limit extra monthly fee but you can choose other values in your area of customer, with roaming communications not being taken into account for this limit.

The mobile net can be used in roaming in the countries mentioned above.

Once you have used up the included communications for all national networks, they will be charged at €0.20 per text in national territory and when roaming to/from EEA countries and the United Kingdom.

Once you've used up your monthly mobile net allowance, your access speed will be reduced to 128kbps until the end of the month.

MEO reserves the right to charge a surcharge for traffic roamed in the EEA and the United Kingdom, in accordance with the rules of Fair Use Policy applied in these countries, which can be consulted here or by calling 12083 (free call).
