What is the AJAX Self-Installing Alarm Starter Kit and how does it work?

The kit is an intelligent security system that you can easily install yourself, without the need for specialized technicians or advanced technical knowledge to configure the alarms.

What's included:

• An Ajax Hub2 security control panel

• A motion detector with image capture

• A door/window opening sensor 

• A command
  

All these devices communicate wirelessly using Jeweller technology, ensuring fast and secure signal transmission, but you can activate and deactivate the alarm manually using a keypad, remote control or panic button.

Through the Ajax Security System app, available for Android and iOS, you can monitor your home in real time and receive notifications on your mobile phone whenever there is suspicious activity. App updates are made automatically to improve the system's performance and security. This app also allows you to authorize multiple users to access the system. 

All the equipment is protected against interference, signal blocking attempts and physical sabotage, and the motion sensors have technology that prevents false alarms by ignoring animals up to a certain weight.

The system is compatible with automation devices such as smart locks, lights and security cameras, allowing you to complete the solution according to your needs.

If you move house, you can reinstall the system at your new address at no extra cost.

The purchase of this Kit does not require a monthly subscription or loyalty contracts with security companies, since the Kit is not connected to an Alarm Receiving Center (ARC) and works independently. 

The solution can be purchased with a one-time payment or in installments for eligiblecustomers .

How is the system installed and configured?

The system can be installed in apartments, houses or commercial premises. The kit allows for quick installation without the need for building work. 

You must ensure that the devices are placed in a location within range of the central unit, as the system works wirelessly. The range of the Jeweller signal can reach up to 2 km in the open, but thick walls or metal structures can reduce this distance.

How to install the Ajax Starter Alarm kit:

1. Install the Ajax Security System app (link for iOS and Android)
2. Add the hub and devices via QR code in the app
3. Position the sensors correctly, using the app to check their correct positioning
4. Configure options such as sensitivity, activation times, alarm modes and integrate with voice assistant. No advanced technical knowledge is required, as configuration is intuitive via the app.
5. Test the system to ensure it works.
   
   

Does the system need internet to work?

The system can work without internet, but with limitations. 

Without internet, the devices continue to communicate with each other using the Jeweller protocol (which does not depend on the internet) and can manually activate and deactivate the alarm using a keypad, remote control or the panic button. The internal and external sirens also go off, even without the internet. 

However, without internet, mobile phone notifications, remote monitoring and camera streaming will be affected. 

As the hub supports connection via Ethernet, Wi-Fi or mobile networks (2G/3G), you can purchase a mobile card so that you can continue to receive alerts and notifications even if your fixed internet fails.

What happens in the event of a power cut?

The system includes backup batteries to guarantee the operation of the main equipment for a certain period:

• The hub has an internal battery that can last up to 16 hours (depending on the model and configuration)
• The sensors run on long-lasting batteries (up to 7 years)
• If there is active internet or mobile network, the user receives a notification in the app when there is a power cut and when it is restored.
  

Does the system need maintenance?

It is recommended to periodically check the status of the sensors and replace batteries when necessary. The application notifies you when any intervention is required. 

Most checks can be carried out via the Ajax application, and battery replacement is simple, but in the event of persistent faults or system expansion, technical assistance may be required.
