Configure router - MEO Help

To connect the router, follow these steps:

1. Telephone cable - First of all, connect the landline telephone cable, type RJ11, usually gray or cream, to the gray port on the FiberGateway.
   


2. Computer, SmartTV or other - If, in addition to the MEOBox, you have other equipment that connects by network cable to the FiberGateway, connect them to the last yellow ports. If you don't have these devices, skip to the next step.
   


3. fibre Cable with Optical Connector - Plug the cable from Fibre into the port labeled "PON" until you hear a click. The click indicates that the cable is securely connected. Handle the optical cable with care. To avoid eye damage, do not look directly at the optical connector on the cable from . fibre


4. TV/RF Cable - If you have TVs without a MEOBox that are connected via RF, plug the RF cable into the port labeled "RF TV."
   


5. Power Supply- Plug the power supply cable into the PWR port and connect the FiberGateway to a power source.
   


6. ON/OFF - Press the power button to turn on the FiberGateway and wait about 5 minutes until the lights on the front of the device stabilize and you have an Internet connection.
   


7. MEOBox(es)- Finally, connect the network cable from the MEOBox(es) to the first yellow port(s). Wait 15 minutes, and then test all services (TV, internet, and phone) to make sure they are working. 
   

 

To disconnect the router safely, follow these steps:

1. ON/OFF - First, press the power button to turn off the FiberGateway


2. Power supply - Unplug the FiberGateway and remove the power supply cable from the PWR input.


3. Telephone cable - Disconnect the RJ11 landline telephone cable, usually gray or cream, from the FiberGateway.


4. MEOBox - Disconnect the network cables from the MEOBoxes connected to the yellow ports from the FiberGateway (press the tab on the plug to pull the cable).


5. Computer, SmartTV and others - If, in addition to the MEOBox, you have other equipment connected by Ethernet cable to the FiberGateway, disconnect them from the yellow ports (press the tab on the plug to pull the cable).


6. TV/RF cable - Disconnect the coaxial cable from the FiberGateway from the input marked RF TV (the plug must be unscrewed) if you have televisions connected via RF.


7. fibre cable w/optical connector - Disconnect the Fibre cable from the input marked PON (pull firmly on the plug).

Take care:

• To avoid eye damage, do not look directly at the optical connector
• It's important to keep in mind that the fibre cable is fragile and therefore requires careful handling
• To prevent it from breaking, you should protect the cable from unnecessary handling once it has been disconnected from the FiberGateway. Pay particular attention if you have pets that could chew on the cables.
• Keep the place where the fibre cable is located clean, as dirt can impair the passage of the optical signal when you reconnect the cable to the FiberGateway.

  1. ONT - First, connect the network cable that is connected to the ONT to the red port on the router, labeled WAN.

  2. Landline - Connect the cable from your landline to the first green port on the router, labeled with the telephone symbol

  3. Computer, SmartTV or other - If, in addition to the MEOBox, you have other devices that connect to the router via network cable, connect them to the last yellow ports. If you don't have these devices, go on to the next step

  4. Power supply- Connect the power supply cable to the router and then to a power outlet

  5. ON/OFF - Press the on/off button to turn the router on and wait about 5 minutes until the lights on the top stabilize and you have internet.

  6. MEOBox(es) - Finally, connect the network cable from the MEOBox(es) to the first yellow port(s) on the router. Wait 5 minutes and test all services (TV, internet, and phone) to make sure they are working.

Installation takes 5 steps:

   1. Install and open the MEO Smart WiFi app on your smartphone

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you already use this app, make sure you have the latest version on your smartphone or tablet. The app is compatible with Android 6 devices or higher and iOS 12.3 or higher.




b. Select the ENTER button and use:

In the case of the FibreGateway (model GR241AG)

- User: meo
- Password: meo




For the following router models, Wi-Fi network username and password: FiberGateway WiFi 6 (model GR141DG), FiberGateway WiFi 7 (model GR240NHR), Fiber X (model XSR151DK), and Fiber X7 (model XSR240LNR). You can find this information on the sticker on the bottom of the router.





If you have previously changed your router's administration password, use that password or, alternatively, reset the router to restore the original username and password (meo/meo in the case of FiberGateway, and Wi-Fi network username and password in the case of other FiberGateway or Fiber X models).


Here's how to reset your router:

After logging in for the first time and activating MEO Smart WiFi, if you have your MEO e bundle registered at customer my MEO, you can simply use your MEO ID to access the MEO Smart WiFi app wherever and whenever you want by selecting the “ACCESS WITH MEO ID” option. 2. Activate the MEO Smart WiFi service 


This action is only necessary if you still have two separate Wi-Fi networks, for example MEOxxxxx and MEOxxxxx-5G. If this is the case, contact technical support and request activation of MEO Smart WiFi. MEO Smart WiFi has no associated cost and allows you to optimally manage your home Wi-Fi network.

3. Plug the MEO Smart WiFi Extender into an electrical outlet

• Connect the power supply to the MEO Smart WiFi Extender and then to a 220V AC power socket.
  

• Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the power.
  

4. Add the MEO Smart WiFi Extender to your home network

• Select ADD EXTENSOR in the HOME tab of the MEO Smart WiFi app
  

• Scan the QR code on the MEO Smart WiFi Extender label or manually enter the number TV show (on the label, this is the number that follows the "S/N" designation).
  
  
  

5. Choose the best location in your home for the MEO Smart WiFi Extender to get the best performance from your Wi-Fi network

• When adding the MEO Smart WiFi Extender, the MEO Smart WiFi app will help you choose the best location for the MEO Smart WiFi Extender (neither too close nor too far from the FiberGateway).
  

• When you have found the best area, select POSITIONED and wait for the MEO Smart WiFi Extender to connect to the FibreGateway. Repeat if necessary.
  

• Alternatively, you can simply press the WPS button on the FiberGateway and the WPS button on the MEO Smart WiFi Extender for a few seconds and wait for them to connect (known as pairing).
  
  The MEO Smart WiFi Extender should be placed close to the area where you want to improve Wi-Fi coverage, at some distance from the FiberGateway, and preferably with 1 or 2 walls in between. It should also be kept away from mirrors and tiles and preferably placed on top of a piece of furniture.
  

 



During normal operation, the ON/OFF and Wi-Fi LEDs remain steady green for the MEO Smart WiFi Extender and steady white for the MEO Smart WiFi 6 Extender MEO Smart WiFi 7 Extender. Even if you disconnect your MEO Smart WiFi Extender from the power supply, it will automatically reconnect to your FiberGateway router as soon as you reconnect it.

If you need more than one MEO Smart WiFi Extender, the installation is done the same way.

  1. Telephone cable - First, connect the RJ11 telephone cable, usually gray or cream, to the gray port on your router. The other end of the cable is connected to the microfilter / telephone socket

  2. Computer, SmartTV or other - If you have other devices that connect by cable to the router, connect them to the last yellow port. If you don't have these devices, skip to the next step

  3. Power supply- Plug in the power supply cable and connect the router to a power outlet

  4. ON/OFF - Press the on/off button to turn on the router and wait about 5 minutes for the lights on the top to stabilize until you have internet.

  5. MEOBox - Connect the MEOBox network cable to the router's first yellow port. Wait 5 minutes and then test the operation of all services (TV, internet and telephone).

If you had customised settings on your router, they should be reset automatically after a few minutes.

If you didn't have customised settings on your wireless network, follow these instructions:

• Check the new credentials - On the sticker on the base of the new router, check the new wireless network name (Network Name) and the corresponding password (Wireless Key).

• Configure your wireless devices - Configure your wireless devices with the new access data you found on the sticker.

To safely turn off the equipment, follow these steps:

  1. ON/OFF - First, turn off the ONT and router using their respective on/off buttons. The on/off button is not present on all ONT models. If the button is not there, proceed to the next step. 

  2. Power supply - Disconnect the ONT and router from the mains and remove the power supply cables from the PWR input. 

  3. RJ45 - Ethernet Cable - Unplug the Ethernet cable connecting the ONT to the router

  4. TV/RF Cable- Disconnect the coaxial cable from the ONT at the port labeled "RF TV" (you'll need to unscrew the connector) if you have TVs connected via RF. If you don't, proceed to the next step.

  5. Cable fibre with optical connector—Disconnect the cable from the Fibre port labeled PON (pull firmly on the plug). The position of the connectors may vary depending on your ONT model. See here for different examples.

  6. Telephone cable - Disconnect the landline telephone cable, type RJ11, usually gray or cream.

  7. Computer, Smart TV, or other devices—If you have devices other than the MEOBox that are connected to the router via an Ethernet cable, disconnect them from the yellow ports. If you don't have these devices, proceed to the next step.

  8. MEOBox(es) - Finally, unplug the network cable from the MEOBox(es) connected to the first yellow port(s).

Take care with point 5 ( fibre cable w/optical connector):

• To avoid eye damage, do not look directly at the optical connector

• It's important to keep in mind that the fibre cable is fragile and therefore requires careful handling

• To prevent it from breaking, you should protect the cable from being handled unnecessarily once it has been disconnected. Pay particular attention if you have pets that could chew on the cable.

• Keep the place where the fibre cable is located clean, as dirt can impair the passage of the optical signal when you reconnect the cable.
