  • What is the CVP (Portability Validation Code)?

The Portability Validation Code or CVP, is a unique identifier for each landline or mobile number on customer, and you will be asked for it when you request to port your numbers. This code is intended to streamline the portability requests, making them faster and safer.

If you want to be MEO customer and keep your numbers, find out the code for each number from your current operator.

The CVP is provided for in the Portability Regulation [Regulation No. 257/2018, of May 8, as amended by Regulation No. 85/2019, of January 21] and will become arequired field in portability requests effective May 11, 2019.

This code is individual but will be different for each operator, meaning that whenever customer changes its operator will also change its CVP.

As soon as we receive the request, we will contact you to schedule the installation of the MEO service, with the assignment of a provisional telephone number on the day of installation.

Once it has been confirmed that all the documentation is in order, the portability process begins immediately. The process is monitored by two text:

    • A first one indicating the expected date for portability (change to MEO while keeping the current number)

    • A second to confirm that the date has been accepted (by the other operator).

  • Portability data and forms

To switch to MEO and keep your number (portability) we have to send the request to your current operator. For this reason, you must keep your details up to date and send us the correct details and duly completed and signed forms. If your current operator has different details from those you give us (name of the holder and/or identification documents), they may refuse to change your number to MEO.

Only when we receive all the documents we ask for can we verify your identification. The forms for switching to MEO while keeping your number are:

    • Contract from Join to MEO
    • Complaint document
  • Landline portability deadlines

    • The portability of your number begins after the installation of the MEO service and must be completed on the working day following its installation (if the physical intervention in the network, necessary for the provision of the service, takes place after 5pm, portability should only take place on the 2nd working day following). If you want the portability to take place on a specific date, just tell us the date you want.

    • If the portability does not take place within the established timeframe or on the agreed date, you will be entitled to receive compensation of €2.5 (VAT included) for each working day of delay, which will be charged to your invoice.
