What are MEO WiFi Community Hotspots?
There are two WiFi networks in your home. The private network (e.g. "MEO-123456" or another customisable SSID) and the public network (with SSID "MEO-WiFi"). By belonging to the MEO WiFi hotspot community, you have the advantage of being able to access more than 1,600,000 hotspots in Portugal. The area of locations with MEO WiFi coverage is constantly growing and being updated.
The MEO WiFi hotspot community is supported by MEO Fibre accesses, which allow a maximum of 5 simultaneous users on each Hotspot. In this way, we guarantee that the MEO Fibre access maintains all the quality, security and privacy of your home network.
What are MEO WiFi Premium hotspots?
In premium hotspots, WiFi technology uses the 802.11n/b/g protocol, which allows a speed of up to 600MBits/second, which depends on the number of users accessing the internet on the same hotspot and the supporting connectivity.
Why will there no longer be free traffic on the mobile network for websites and apps?
In compliance with the decision by ANACOM, the electronic communications regulator, regarding zero-rating and similar offers in Portugal in the context of the open Internet, as of June 8, 2023, free data for apps and websites on mobile networks will, in most cases, no longer be available; therefore, data usage will be deducted from the mobile data allowance.
