  • How can I take advantage of the speed of the bundles fibre 10 Gbps Speed Edition?

    To take advantage of the 10 Gbps speeds offered by fibre , MEO has developed the Fiber Router The X with Wi-Fi 6 and the Fiber X7 router with Wi-Fi 7 Triband.

    To take full advantage of this speed, you’ll need a computer with a 10 Gbps electrical port or a 10 Gbps Thunderbolt 3 adapter, along with a Category 6 or higher Ethernet cable. If you don’t have a computer with a 10 Gbps port, you can use one with a 5 Gbps or 2.5 Gbps port, or multiple devices with 1 Gbps ports each simultaneously. Devices that support Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 Triband connections can also be used.

    Thisfibre supports a maximum usable speed of up to 8 Gbps (symmetrical), with the remainder dedicated to ensuring a high level of stability and access performance.


  • Can the equipment I have (PCs, mobile phones, tablets, extenders, etc.) pick up 10Gbps fibre speeds?

    Combining several devices connected by ethernet cable and/or Wi-Fi is very easy. However, in a single device, to achieve maximum speed you need a 10 Gbps ethernet card (or 10Gbps Thunderbolt 3 adapter) and at least category 6 ethernet cable (for distances over 50 m, UTP6a cable or higher must be used). 

    At the moment, most devices only have 1 Gbps or 2.5 Gbps Ethernet cards and the capacity to capture between 867 Mbps and 2.4 Gbps of physical throughput over Wi-Fi. Some high-end computers, especially from Apple, already have 10GbE cards, so it's perfectly possible for a single device to measure the useful 8 Gbps symmetrically over cable.

    On the other hand, Wi-Fi is not expected to measure more than a single device: 
    • 5.7 Gbps on Fiber X7 (and for that you have to have the 6 GHz channel bandwidth set to 320 MHz),
    • 1.5 Gbps on Fiber X (and for that you need to have the bandwidth of the 5 GHz channels set to 160 MHz), 
    Since the top-of-the-range terminals only have 2 Wi-Fi antennas.


    The same applies to extenders, PLCs, and any other Wi-Fi range-extending solutions you may have. The speed is limited to the maximum capacity of each device.
