Mail Relay

  • Who benefits most from the Mail Relay service?

For companies that wish to ensure high levels of reliability and security in their email service, while taking advantage of the benefits offered by Altice’s enterprise messaging platform to ensure the receipt or delivery (depending on the selected plan) of their email messages.
  • Does the Mail Relay service only support one email domain for my company?

No. This service supports more than one domain.

  • Does my domain have to be hosted by Altice in order to use the Mail Relay service?

Only in the Inbound Backup variant does the domain have to be hosted by Altice. In the other service modalities, the domain can be hosted outside Altice.
  • Is there a limit to the number of mailboxes in Mail Relay Inbound?

No. The monthly service fee is applied per domain, and there is no maximum limit on the number of mailboxes per domain.
  • What is the maximum size of messages in Mail Relay Outbound?

The maximum size of each message is 20 MB. However, in the mass sending variant, to ensure maximum contracted throughput, the following requirements must be met by customer:

    • The average size of each message should be up to 300KB.
    • No message should be larger than 1MB.

  • What are the requirements for joining the Mail Relay service?

Depending on the variant, subscription to the Mail Relay service requires the following requirements to be met:
    Inbound:

    • Internet access with a fixed IP address
    • Own domain
    • Own mail server

    Outbound:
    • Own domain (used as source domain)
    • SPF (Sender Policy Framework) in the domain, indicating that the Altice relay server is Authorised to send emails on behalf of that domain.
    • Access (via the internet or other means) to Altice's relay server

  • Can I sign up for the Mail Relay service even if my email system is not hosted on Cloud Solutions?

Sim. One of the advantages of this service is that it is available for domains outside the scope of Cloud Solutions.
  • How long does it take for the Mail Relay solution to become available?

Approximately three business days after Altice has received all of your configuration data, as well as the DNS settings properly configured for the service. This process will have minimal impact on your company’s service, and there is no risk of losing emails during the installation process.
  • Does the Mail Relay service involve any kind of commitment?

For inbound plans, the service requires a minimum contract term of 12 months, during which the contracted rates will remain in effect.
  • How is the cost of the Mail Relay service calculated?

The monthly fee for the Inbound plan (Backup or Permanent) is based on the number of domains. For the Outbound plan, the monthly fee is based on the number of source domains for the mailings and depends on the selected plan type:
    • Bulk messaging:The monthly fee depends on the number of thousands of messages you want the platform to be able to send per hour;
    • Non-bulk sending:The monthly fee will depend on the total number of GB you plan to send each month.

  • What protocol is used in Mail Relay?

Mail Relay uses the SMTP (Simple Mail Transport Protocol), the standard protocol for transferring email messages over the Internet. The Mail Relay Outbound product supports DSN (Delivery Status Notification) for cases where it is necessary to receive notifications about the status of sent messages.
