Fixed IP

  • What is Fixed IP?

The Fixed IP service is a unique Internet access identifier that consists of assigning a public IP (Internet Protocol) address that remains constant over time, i.e. it never changes.

Fixed IP only applies to bundles MEO with Fixed Internet and GlobalConnect Pack, using Fibre technology and a Fibregateway (FGW) router. It is incompatible with "Bridge" mode if it is active on the router. Therefore, if you have this configuration, you should deactivate it before requesting activation of the Fixed IP service.

  • How can I join Fixed IP?

You can subscribe to Fixed IP in several ways:

    • Section for customer my MEO (customers Personal , Other Companies, and ENIs) and Corporate customer s (Large Companies).
    • Helpline MEO Empresas (see plan)
    • MEO Stores and authorized MEO Empresas agents
    • Via sales manager

This subscription has No retention period.
  • How can I confirm that the Fixed IP is available on the Fibergateway?

After successful configuration, a text will be sent confirming this operation. You should access your router and confirm that the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses you have been assigned correspond to those indicated on text.
    • If sim, you can start using it straight away
    • If not, you must restart the Fibregateway as indicated in the manual. Do not disconnect the equipment from the power supply

If your Fibregateway is configured in Bridge mode, deactivate it in order to use the Fixed IP.

If you have any doubts about how to access the Fibergateway, how to check the assigned addresses or how to restart it, please consult the instruction manuals. You can also contact the MEO Empresas Helpline (see the plan).

  • What kind of applications require the use of a Fixed IP?

These are some of the situations in which a Fixed IP is required:
    • If you have servers on your premises that you want to be accessible on the Internet. For example, a server with the company website, an e-mail server or a server with information to share.
    • Teleworking solutions in which the user remotely accesses their company's private network (VPN) and the information available on the company's internal network, or accesses the machines to carry out maintenance tasks.
    • Downloading programmes from the Internet where the companies providing them require you to have a fixed IP address for security reasons.

  • Is it possible to integrate the DMZ solution?

Sim, if required, the Fixed IP can be configured as a DMZ. This solution is designed to limit the potential security risk of external attacks on your private network.
