How to use mobile data while Roaming?

With the roaming service, you can be abroad and use data on your mobile phone as you would in Portugal. You can use email, the internet, apps, and much more. You should check that this function is enabled on your device.

To do this, go to General Settings > Network > Roaming Data Roaming Enable*.
If you have an internet traffic sharing card, you can use it abroad, and the traffic used will be billed according to your Roaming plan . To avoid incurring costs for software updates, we suggest you check your mobile phone to see if updates are set to WiFi mode only:

Android: General Settings > Device Information > Software Update > More Options > Automatic Update.
Apple: Settings > General > Software Update > Automatic Updates. (*)

How to control mobile data expenses

To control consumption, we offer a free, automatic roaming data control service (no activation required) that sends warning messages to mobile phone your spending reaches a certain amount (monthly limit).

The monthly limit set for mobile data roaming expenses roaming all customers €50 + VAT (standard regulatory amount). You can change it online, inthe my MEO app, or on the website my MEOwebsite, or intheMEO Empresas customer area(if you are customer MEO Empresas customer MEO Empresas a NIPC).

This service works as follows:
When the monthly limit is about to be reached, you will receive a text notification.
When you reach the limit, you will receive another text , for security reasons, the roaming service will be suspended until the first day of the following month.
To continue using data until the end of the month in question, send "DADOS" to 12083 (if the limit is €50 + VAT) or "ILIMITADO" (if it is higher).
If your limit is €50 + VAT and you request to continue, the service will be suspended again when you reach €100 + VAT. You will receive another warning when you are close to reaching your limit and when you reach that limit, with instructions on how to continue (you will need to send a message to 12083 with the word ILIMITADO).
You can deactivate the roaming data control service for the current month or change the maximum monthly Roaming consumption amount, which will only take effect the following month, inthe my MEO appor on the website my MEO website or inthe customer Business customer area(customer with a NIPC).

How do I change my monthly data roaming spending limit?

In the my MEO app:

- Log in to the my MEO app my MEO your details
- Select Services, then select the mobile phone which you want to change the data control settings for Roaming
- Select Roaming
- Select "Manage data Roamingin the Control spending box
- Select "Change data limit"
- Enter the maximum consumption limit you want and confirm the operation

On the my MEO website:
- Select the service in the upper left corner of the page
- In the Traveling section, click Manage or Activate
- Click Change data limits
- Enter the maximum consumption limit you want and click Confirm.

Please note that in certain maritime border regions or when transiting through airports, your mobile phone data device may enter roaming mode roaming your knowledge and register with a non-terrestrial operator.

Notes

The limit for minutes and text includes outgoing calls to Portugal and to the country you are visiting, incoming calls and text sents (1 text = 1 minute). The texts received are free of charge.

Voice calls are billed by the minute and data communications are charged at 10KB intervals.

Once the plafond has been used up, communications eligible for these offers will be charged according to the basic roaming plan .

Daily rates will only be charged when you make voice, sms or mobile internet communications in the countries where they are valid. In addition, you can activate these tariffs valid for 24 hours (with no limit on the number of activations).
