Torrestir | MEO Empresas

60 years of delivering excellence

Fernando Torres, founder and CEO of Torrestir, who prides himself on running a business empire as if it were a "real family", explains how far the Torrestir group's reach currently extends. "We are present in the most diverse sectors, from the most traditional, such as the 24-hour distribution service in Portugal and Spain, the international service or the temperature-controlled service, to new branches of service such as e-commerce, the specialised transport and distribution service for pharmaceutical products (Torrespharma), the dedicated container transport service (Contentorres), the air and sea service (through Torrestir Transitários ) or even the specialised customs formalities service (Torresaduana), passing through the special transport sector (with Torresespeciais), or logistics (with Torreslog). As a result of our work, we have been recognised with various awards and certifications, including the award for Best Transport Company in Portugal in 2019," he says.

Taking advantage of Portugal's "privileged geographical position", Torrestir confirms the group's "importance" and "strong presence" in the Portuguese market. "We have 12 of our own platforms spread from North to South, with a presence in Madeira and also in the Azores. With thousands of employees, we are always committed to local development and the region where we operate, promoting and supporting local economies and their social fabric. We also have a strong concern for sustainability and social responsibility, which is reflected in our business practices and our relationship with the community," said Fernando Torres.

With its arms open to the world, Torrestir doesn't hide the weight of internationalization in its business. "We have been expanding our international presence over the years by opening new branches and acquiring complementary companies. We offer transportation, logistics, distribution and international trade services in several countries, such as Spain, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Angola, Mozambique and Cape Verde," says the group's CEO, stressing Torrestir's intention to "continue its international expansion in a sustained and comprehensive manner".

"We want our international brand to be increasingly recognised, just as it is internally, as a synonym for excellence," he reiterates. Looking forward to "sustained growth and consolidating our position in the market", one of Torrestir's main objectives in 2023 is to "continue investing in technology and innovation". With its sights set on "digital transformation", the group also counts on MEO Empresas as a "technological partner of excellence". "It's an important partner that provides us with advanced technological solutions, which help us improve the efficiency and quality of our services, adding value to our customers", notes the Torrestir leader.
