The challenge
According to Luís Domingos, the municipality's IT & IS manager, "in order to boost the evolution of the municipal services we provide, guaranteeing high levels of quality, we needed to guarantee the modernization of the information systems that support these services, without high technology costs. In addition, in order to ensure the availability and full functionality of these services, it was also a priority to maximize the security of our systems."

The results achieved
"In order to ensure the best conditions for us to develop and modernize the municipal services we provide, we upgraded our information systems and simultaneously migrated the entire infrastructure of the Municipality to the Altice Portugal Data Center in Covilhã, which guarantees the best hosting conditions, computing capacity and security for our systems," says Luís Domingos.
"By moving to a cloud environment at the Covilhã Data Center, we can always guarantee the technological resources we need - storage space and processing capacity - to keep up with our municipality's ambitious projects. We can evolve services with greater flexibility, speed and cost efficiency, since we have the autonomy to scale the resources available in the data center, paying only for the resources that are used.
In addition, we no longer have to worry about managing the infrastructure and communications network, which are now managed by specialised teams at MEO Empresas, in an integrated and centralised manner, allowing for greater optimisation of resources.
All updates to our systems are also carried out centrally and are immediately available and can be shared by everyone. In this way, we can easily upgrade our management tools and applications, which are essential for planning and managing the municipality's activities and new projects, without having to purchase or renew infrastructure beforehand."
The security of systems and information is also a key factor in ensuring high availability and quality of services. To this end, MEO Empresas ensures that our systems and databases are replicated in a second Data Center in Lisbon. We thus have all the security conditions in place so that, in the event of any occurrence, there are no failures or breaks in services.
