MEO has the best mobile communications network in Lisbon according to Accenture/umlaut study

The 2024 Portugal Audit Report Lisbon study, conducted by Accenture/umlaut, tested and measured the experience of using voice and mobile data services on all available networks (2G, 4G and 5G) of the three main national operators: MEO, NOS and Vodafone in Lisbon. The report highlights Altice Portugal's network as having the best experience when using voice and mobile data services on all networks. The country's capital was chosen for the test due to its high urban density and the city's orography, known as the "seven hills".

Umlaut's study was based on a benchmark audit of network performance between February 13 and 17 this year, using a Samsung Galaxy S23+ smartphone, preferably in 5G mode.

In the results presented, MEO was the highest scoring operator, with 966 points out of 1000, followed by Vodafone with 960 and NOS with 940 points. MEO stood out in the three parameters tested, which include voice, data and crowd, with tests being carried out on download, upload, latency and coverage.

MEO had the best performance in voice services, where it scored 259 points out of a possible 270. In the data category, MEO and Vodafone had the same score of 472 points out of 480. In crowdsourced quality, the group test, it was NOS that achieved the best score with 238 out of 250, followed by a tie between MEO and Vodafone with 235 points.

"This recognition reinforces our work in developing and evolving our networks, with a view to offering the best experience of using our services to our customerscustomers," said Carlos Bouça, director of network engineering and operations at Altice Portugal. He adds that the operator intends to continue leading the country's technological and digital transformation, "maintaining the boldness and courage that characterize us so much and that reinforce our status as a benchmark in the sector at national and international level, always with a view to delivering the best service to people and companies".

The results of umlaut's study were presented at the Mobile World Congress 2024, where the quality of national networks was highlighted, as well as the speed and coverage of 5G networks in Portugal, earning awards from MedUX and Ookla.
