5G has brought about a real revolution in people's daily lives and is growing all the time.

5G private networks accelerate companies' digital transformation

The Knowledge Pavilion in Lisbon will showcase the solutions that have been adopted by the country's economic and social fabric, demonstrating the advantages and practical benefits of 5G technology. Over the course of the two days, as well as taking part in a panel debate between the country's three main operators, MEO will take to the stage and be featured in numerous demonstrations by partners who have implemented MEO solutions.

In practice, the audience will learn about a new generation of technologies such as fibre optics, mobile networks, 5G, cloud, artificial intelligence, and how they are driving the transformation and digitalization of organizations, also at the operations level.
Some of the possible applications that will be demonstrated include factory floor sensing, robotics and AGVs, mission critical communications and video streaming, among others.

Operations support increases demand

In an increasingly technologically demanding context, private mobile networks using 5G have seen a growing uptake. Initially, users of these private 5G networks were mainly concentrated in industry. However, the latest market analysis now shows a clear growth in the installation of this type of network in sectors such as transport and logistics, media and entertainment, health, among others. In theory, all sectors of activity can take advantage of 5G.

Among the benefits of 5G are greater speed, low latency and more robust connectivity. These features allow companies to improve their operations and critical processes, minimizing failures and the need for corrections.

The digital transformation of organizations often requires permanent levels of mobile connectivity that enable a full and specific mobility environment for people and machines, without physical or architectural constraints.
In addition, this connectivity must be in real time, i.e. with very low latency and practically immune to external interference caused by radio technologies or complex electromagnetic environments, for example.

And it is in this context that 5G has emerged as a solution. This type of network is synonymous with security, reliability and availability. In the case of private networks, it's as if customer had a slice of the MEO 5G network totally dedicated to its operations, thus benefiting from total traffic priority.

The Private Custom Network allows you to create and manage a virtual private mobile network based on the MEO mobile network, specifically designed and implemented to meet the needs of companies. What's more, it's a flexible solution that can be adapted by customer itself to its needs, adjusting and customizing performance parameters, structure and resources.

Through its innovation center in Aveiro, Altice Labs, MEO has also developed a self-care portal that allows customer to manage and monitor, autonomously and in real time, all the 5G cards that are part of its private mobile network.
