MEO Empresas challenges you to shop local this Christmas

This Christmas, buy localsays the brand, in a campaign that invites the Portuguese to "relive their fondest Christmas memories".

The aim is to "lead them to the so-called small businesses which, by calling each customer by its name and asking if it's going to be the usual one, play an essential role in the cohesion of the communities in which they operate and show that they are, after all, big businesses," alongside which MEO Empresas "makes a point of being," the press release explains.

As well as showing its support, the brand wants to "enhance the feeling of closeness and familiarity that characterizes this time of year". With 230 small businesses participating, those who visit MEO stores are invited to get to know them and do their shopping nearby.

Using geo-referencing, the campaign is personalized with specific messages for the shops in each neighbourhood, street, village or town. Thus, MEO store windows and digital posters provide directions to products and establishments in that region, "making it easier for the Portuguese to go to local businesses".

In addition, short stories about some of these businesses and videos with testimonials from small traders are also highlighted via a landing page dedicated to the campaign.

"After its success in 2023, with a strong turnout of traders and shoppers, MEO Empresas is thus returning to its goal of boosting the local economy, while at the same time promoting the spirit of community and proximity in every purchase, values that become true symbols of celebration at Christmas," the press release states.
