Highlighting the power of padel to bring people together, MEO Empresas is proud to be the naming sponsor of the Corporate Padel League, strengthening ties between coworkers and companies.

What is the balance of the second edition of the MEO Empresas Corporate Padel League?
The balance of the MEO Corporate Padel League is very positive. We set out to do the second edition and identified a number of improvements on the first edition. We held six stages in different regions of Portugal - the Center, the Azores, Lisbon, Porto, Madeira and the Algarve, making the event truly national. Obviously the inclusion of the islands presented different challenges, but we didn't want to exclude them.

Quite the opposite: we sought to promote the national scope of this tournament. In total, we had more than 1,100 athletes who regularly practice paddle tennis taking part in this competition. And, in fact, bringing together more than a thousand people for a tournament is a cause for celebration.

Humanization is one of the pillars underpinning the MEO brand. Is that why it's so important for MEO Empresas to be the naming sponsor of this corporate championship?
Padel has the unique ability to bring together people from different backgrounds and sectors, promoting inclusion and respect, regardless of gender, religion or ability. The Padel Without Barriers project is an example of this, promoting sport among people with disabilities.

In fact, there is a positive spirit around padel that promotes the human condition. That's why brands have to create the conditions for this sport to develop. MEO has a history of supporting various sports and we see enormous potential for growth in padel. Investing in this type of initiative not only promotes sports, but also strengthens ties between companies and communities.

In your opinion, was this competition fundamental in promoting networking between work colleagues?
Without a doubt. Padel is a sport in which you can build relationships, discuss business, but also create new friendships regardless of the level of competitiveness on the court. The participation of several women's and men's teams from MEO Empresas in this edition is a source of pride, but we also had teams from companies competing in MEO's activity sign up for the competition. Even companies that are fighting each other and competing in the market can meet in a tournament and this aspect highlights the character and charisma of the MEO Empresas Corporate Padel League.

Would MEO Empresas like to be involved in more initiatives like this in the future?
Sim, that's our bet. We're not a brand that simply moves in and out of territories. We like to invest in the medium and long term. For example, our partnership with surfing goes back more than 25 years. Our connection with the Portuguese Football Federation is also more than 25 years old. We're a brand with strong convictions and determined investments, and I'm sure we'll achieve excellent results in padel as well.
