The country's biggest tennis event will be the stage for the first high definition (HD) television broadcast supported by a private 5G mobile network. MEO Empresas will be the technology partner, while CNN Portugal will be in charge of covering the event.
The Private Custom Network is the new solution from MEO Empresas that will support this operation, and promises exclusivity and greater security in the use of the 5G network.
Nuno Nunes, Altice Portugal's business director for the enterprise area, said in a press release that, "in this case, we are exploiting the maximum potential of 5G with a solution within the reach of Portuguese companies and organisations with a positive impact on their productivity. Responding to the ambition of Portuguese companies is our main goal in making the Private Custom Network solution available."
With the Private Custom Network project, the Millennium Estoril Open final match will be broadcast over MEO's public 5G network. Given the technological environment provided at the event - a large number of people and devices in the same place - this was the stage chosen to test for the first time a television broadcast supported by the private 5G mobile network, and configured to ensure a live broadcast.
"Our channel has always been characterized by its commitment to innovation and the use of technology to enhance the way we communicate with our audience," said Joaquim Sousa Martins, CNN Portugal's deputy director of information, in a press release.
